From Yahoo.com; U.S. corporate tax rate poised to become highest

Today the United States becomes the home of the worlds highest corporate tax rate. Why?

With the worlds largest economy (until China passes it in a few years, but that’s a story for another time), why does the United States government have the highest corporate tax rate? You would think that with the biggest economy, it could get along at a lower, more-reasonable level.

Alas, it has become fashionable to bash corporations while claiming the government should fill the responsibilities to the American people, that those companies once had.

What many people fail to realize is that business is the economy, not the government. The harder it becomes for a business to sustain itself, the harder it becomes for the government to sustain itself. But that is a double-edged sword, because the easier a business can conduct it’s operations the less people need help from the government.

It’s like committing suicide so people will feel bad for you and show up to your funeral. It just isn’t gonna work out.

This distinction is also a further damnation of just how far the United States has come. The United States was for a long time a country that was relaxed and allowed people to do what they chose and kept from sticking it’s nose too much into their business.

How the great have changed. Now you’re business must give up more of it’s hard earned money than companies around the world, even from currently socialist and formerly communist countries.
